A wallaby that was rescued from Hālawa and brought to the Honolulu Zoo earlier this year has been euthanized at the Honolulu Zoo.

The wallaby was being treated for an injury likely sustained during a fight with another animal.

Officials with the City and County of Honolulu say the wallaby arrived in poor condition at the zoo in February and had been treated for various health issues during its time there.

The latest health issue took its toll, and with recovery deemed unlikely, the zoo made the decision to euthanize in order to end the animal’s suffering.
