Songs of the Pacific Benefit Event Features John Cruz
Whale Trust hosts a benefit fundraiser featuring Grammy award-winning artist John Cruz at Sugar Beach Events in Kīhei on Jan. 5, 2019 at 5 p.m.
The event begins with optional canoe trips (weather permitting) and passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by dinner and John Cruz in concert; live and silent auctions will feature ocean experiences and local marine artists.
The event titled Songs of the Pacific celebrates the humpback whale’s distinctive songs.
Grammy-Award winning Hawaiʻi singer John Cruz will provide the evening’s musical entertainment in the spirit of humpback whale songs while Chef Lee presents guests with a beachfront dinner.
Shore-based outrigger canoe trips will be offered to guests as they accompany Whale Trust researchers and Kīhei Canoe Club members.
The event also features a special presentation from humpback whale song expert Dr. Jim Darling and video footage captured by the Whale Trust research team.
Individual tickets are $175 per person and can be purchased online at songs.whaletrust.org.
All proceeds from the event will help support Whale Trust’s humpback whale studies, including Whale Trust’s ongoing research into the function of humpback whale songs.
