Musician Willie K, born Willie Kahaialiʻi of Lahaina, collapsed Saturday night, Jan. 5, 2019 while on stage at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center for his Willie K and Friends Bluesfest.

The Maui musician and popular entertainer, who has been battling cancer, was reportedly taken by ambulance to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

At 12:51 a.m., a post was published on Willie K’s Facebook page saying he was in stable condition and was being kept overnight in the hospital for observations.  In a subsequent update at 2:35 a.m., Willie K posted a video from his hospital bed saying, “I’m doing good.
