Maui Flash Flood Watch Through Afternoon
A flash flood watch remains in effect through this afternoon for Maui County and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service say a band of deep moisture will move over the eastern half of the state and stall today. “Convective showers within this band will likely trigger heavy rainfall and thunderstorms,” with the band moving eastward on Wednesday, according to the NWS.
The NWS reminds the public that flash flooding is life-threatening and advises motorists and pedestrians not to cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot.
“If you experience heavy rain or rising water, head to higher ground immediately,” the NWS advisory states.
