Maui Electric Work on Wākea Avenue on April 26, May 3

Maui Electric will be upgrading two utility poles along Wākea Avenue that will require overnight road closures for crews to safely complete the work.

On Friday, April 26, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., the lane fronting the parking lot of the Kahului Seventh-day Adventist Church on Wākea Avenue near Pu‘unēnē Avenue will be closed to traffic. The right and left turn lanes on Wākea onto Pu‘unēnē and traffic crossing Pu‘unēnē from Wākea will be diverted.

On Friday, May 3, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., the lane fronting 295 E. Wākea Ave. will be closed.

During the work, motorists should drive with caution and expect traffic delays in the area. Electrical service in the immediate area will also be impacted and affected customers are being notified.
