Mokulele Starts New Service to Lāna‘i on June 17

Mokulele Airlines will launch twice daily service between Kahului and Lāna‘i City on June 17, 2019.  This brings the number Hawaiian cities served by Mokulele to nine, which is more than any other air carrier.

This is also Mokulele Airline’s first new route in Hawai‘i since being acquired by Southern Airways earlier this year.

Mokulele Airlines was founded in 1994 by Kawehi Inaba, who has recently returned to the airline as Director of Community Relations.

After experiencing significant growth over the last decade, Mokulele was acquired by Southern Airways in February. Once the operations are integrated, the combined entity will be the largest commuter airline operating in the 50 states.

With the addition of the Lāna‘i City flights, Mokulele will operate 106-peak day departures in Hawai‘i.

“The addition of Lāna‘i City gives us yet another route from our growing Kahului hub,” said Stan Little, the airline’s Chairman and CEO. “Not only will this route be great for locals, business travelers, government employees, and tourists needing to make day trips between the two islands, but with our network of flights at Kahului, we can offer one-stop connections between Lāna‘i City and five other Hawaiian airports.”

Passengers departing Kahului for Lāna‘i City will be able to do so at 7:05 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. daily, while passengers flying from Lāna‘i City to Kahului can depart at 7:50 a.m. and 5 p.m. Fares begin at $57.

The launch of Lāna‘i service is the first in a series of announcements to be made by Mokulele in 2019, the 25th anniversary year of the airline. Celebrations across the state are planned to commemorate the milestone.
