Police say the Honda Accord was being operated by a 23-year-old female resident of Pāʻia.  She was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.

The crash occurred on Hāliʻimaile Road, about 0.1 mile southwest of Hoʻomālie Place at approximately 9:22 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2019.

According to a preliminary investigation, the Honda was traveling northeast on Hāliʻimaile Road when it crossed left of center and first collided with the drivers side of a silver Land Rover Discovery sports utility vehicle, which was traveling in the opposite direction.  Police say that after it “sideswiped” the Land Rover, the Honda continued on a path, still traveling left of center, and collided head-on into the grey Nissan four door sedan.
