A 47-year-old California man died after falling off a 10-foot embankment at Twin Falls on Thursday morning.  The incident was reported at 9:32 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Twin Falls trail in Haʻikū.

Fire officials say the man was unresponsive after the fall. Responding units hiked about a quarter mile up the trail to access the victim and found bystanders performing CPR.

Fire personnel from Engine 2 continued CPR efforts and extracted the victim to an awaiting ambulance on a gravel roadway nearby.

Maui Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro said that despite all efforts, the man was pronounced deceased on scene by Medics. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
