High Surf Advisory South Facing Shores of Maui County

The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for the south facing shores of all islands in Maui County until 6 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019.

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

Surf of 6 to 9 feet is forecast for tonight, rising to 8 to 12 feet Sunday through Monday afternoon.

Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.

The public can expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong long shore and rip currents, making swimming difficult add dangerous.

As a precaution, beach goers, swimmers and surfers are asked to heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
