The Stylistics: 70s Soul Comes to Maui
By Kristin Hashimoto
In the late 60s, a four-man group from Philadelphia became a part of the 70s soul, and R & B movement. The Stylistics have inspired and influenced today’s artists and music scene. Fresh off the jet from Japan, this group will perform for audiences on Oahu, Kaua’i, and Maui. On Friday June 17, at 7:00 p.m., the Maui Arts and Cultural Center will be the night’s home to these songbirds as they perform some of their hits throughout the decades.
The Stylistics is comprised of: Herbert Murrell, Jason Sharp, Eban Brown, and Airrion Love. They will perform songs such as: “You Make Me Feel Brand New,” “Betcha By Golly Wow,” Break Up To Make Up,” “I’m Stone In Love With You,” “Ebony Eyes,” “Rockin’ Roll Baby,” “You are Everything,” “Let’s Put It All Together,” “People Make the World Go Round,” “Heavy Fallin’ Out,” “You’ll Never Get to Heaven,” “You are Beautiful,” and many more.
They will also perform songs from their new CD, entitled: The Stylistics, That Same Way, which is also available on iTunes. Tickets are on sale now at the MACC box office, online at www.mauiarts.org, or by phone at 242-(SHOW). Seats are priced at $35, $45, and $55.
