Kris Kristofferson & The Strangers on Maui, Oct. 19
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center presents a special benefit concert with music legend Kris Kristofferson on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Castle Theater. The concert is a benefit for Nā Keiki O Emalia and the MACC.
Joining Kristofferson for this concert are The Strangers who are best known as the back-up band for singer-songwriter Merle Haggard. For the Maui concert, the band includes Scott Joss (fiddle and vocals), Doug Colosio (keyboards & vocals) and Jeff Ingraham (drums).
Tickets go on sale to MACC members Friday, August 30 and to the general public Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Kris Kristofferson is a Rhodes Scholar, actor, songwriter, undisputed country music living legend and three-time GRAMMY winner who has recorded 29 albums, including three with pals Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings as part of the Highwaymen. His popular songs include: “Me and Bobby McGee”, “Help Me Make It Through the Night”, ”Sunday Morning Coming Down” and “For the Good Times.”
Artists who have recorded and achieved chart success with a song written or co-written by Kris Kristofferson include Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin who recorded “Me and Bobby McGee”– a song forever linked to Janis. By 1987, it was estimated that more than 450 artists had recorded Kristofferson’s compositions.
Nā Keiki O Emalia (Emalia’s Children) is a Maui-based non-profit organization that provides support to grieving children, teens, and their families to help them heal after the death of a loved one.
Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) opened in 1994, the culmination of a long-standing dream of Maui’s residents to build a world-class gathering place for the arts; the MACC celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year. The MACC, with its nationally recognized arts and education programs, serves residents of all ages and Maui visitors with more than 1,700 events and activities annually.
Tickets are $15, $35, $55, $85, $125, and a limited number of $500 VIP tickets plus applicable fees. The VIP ticket includes a Meet & Greet session, premium seat in the first four rows and a souvenir show laminate. Tickets are available to MACC members Friday, Aug. 30 and to the general public Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Non-members may become members and receive multiple benefits at MauiArts.org/membership or by calling the Box Office. The MACC Box Office is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for window and phone sales. Online sales are available anytime.
