More Tourists Are Coming to Maui

There were 5 percent more tourists on Maui this past July compared to a year ago. 

Thatʻs according to a press release from the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority, which states that 309,134 visitors traveled to the island during the month.  

The average daily census rose 2 percent from last year to 76,589 visitors in July.   

Visitors also spent a total of $502.4 million while on Maui this past July, a 4 percent increase from the same time last year. 

However, year-to-date, visitor spending on the island slightly decreased from last year due to a 3 percent drop in daily spending. Year-to-date, arrivals rose 4 percent from last year to more than 1.5 million tourists. 

The report also showed a 2 percent increase in both the total amount of days visitors stayed on the island and the amount of money they spent daily. 

Tourists throughout the islands spent a total of $1.7 billion this past July, a 2 percent rise from a year ago. 

A total of 997,872 tourists came to Hawaiʻi in July, a 6 percent increase from last year.
