Fire Department Promotes 7 to Captain, 1 Battalion Chief

Here is a list of the Maui County Fire Departmentʻs most recent promotees:

Jeffrey Giesea has been promoted to battalion chief and will head the Ocean Safety Bureau. Giesea is an 18-year veteran of the department and served on fire companies in Hāna, Kīhei, Wailea, Kahului, Nāpili, Kaunakakai, as well as on Rescue 10 and in the Health and Safety Bureau.

Alma Aiwohi has been promoted to captain. Aiwohi joined the department in 1994 and has served in Lahaina, Wailuku, and Kahului, as well as in the Training Bureau. He will now lead Engine 14 in Wailea.

Vernon Patao has been promoted to captain. Patao joined the department in 1994 and has served in Pāʻia, Kahului, and on Lānaʻi. As a captain, he will lead Engine 9 in Hoʻolehua, Molokaʻi.

Todd Teraoka has been promoted to captain. Teraoka joined the department in 2001 and has served in Nāpili, Makawao, Pūkoʻo, and Lahaina. He is now the captain of Engine 1 in Wailuku.

Jeffrey Watanabe has been promoted to captain. He joined the department in 2001 and has served in Hāna and Wailea, as well as in the Training Bureau.  He is now the captain of Engine 14 in Wailea.

Reza Azman has been promoted to captain. Azman joined the department in 2002 and has served in Nāpili, Lahaina, Makawao, Pāʻia, and the Training Bureau. He is now the captain of Engine 3 in Lahaina.

Timothy Herrick has been promoted to captain. Herrick joined the department in 2002 and has served in Lahaina, Wailea, and Kahului. He is now the captain of Ladder 3 in Lahaina.

Ryan Otsubo has been promoted to captain. Otsubo joined the department in 2002 and has served in Wailea and the Fire Prevention Bureau. As a captain, he will head the department’s Training Bureau.

All promotions have gone into effect.
