Surf of 5-9 Feet Forecast for Maui’s South Shores
Surf of 5 to 9 feet is forecast along the south facing shores of all islands within Maui County.
A high surf advisory was issued by the National Weather Service and remains in effect through 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27, 2019.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
The public can expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong long-shore and rip currents which will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers are asked to heed all advice given by ocean safety personnel and exercise caution. Boaters should expect recreational surfers and body boarders utilizing harbor channels to access surfing areas.
Personnel with the Maui County Emergency Management Agency will continue to monitor the situation.
