High Winds Expected for Maui, Lānaʻi

The islands of Maui, Lānaʻi, and Kahoʻolawe could see blustery conditions until tomorrow morning, the National Weather Service announced.

The NWS has extended a wind advisory for for the islands until 6 a.m.

Northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with localized gusts to near 50 mph are expected for the central valley of Maui.

Winds this strong could down tree branches and cause localized power outages, the county warned. Motorists are urged to drive with caution.
