The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is seeking a few more applicants for its spring 2020 nurse aide training program.

Participants will learn nurse aide and caregiving fundamentals to become skilled, entry-level healthcare providers as well as prepare for the state nurse aide certification examination.

Hui No Ke Ola Pono sponsors the program in an effort to increase the capacity of Native Hawaiians working in healthcare.

The 150-hour, non-credit course will be held from Feb. 3 to April 28, and will be preceded by a required orientation in the evenings during the last week of January.

Lectures will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings, labs on Thursdays evenings and Saturday mornings, and a clinical experience at Hale Makua during the daytime on April 2, 3, 9, 10, and 16.

As a final requirement for earning a Nurse Aide Certificate of Professional Development, students will apply their new knowledge and skills during a 100-hour internship or work experience.

Interested applicants should immediately contact College and Career Specialist Leilani Kepler at  [email protected] or (808) 984-3725 for a chance at reserving a spot in the program. Full tuition sponsorships are available, with preference given to individuals of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law. Applicants must be ages 18 and older.
