Ilima Loomis to Hold Children’s Book Signing

Ilima Loomis, author of the new book ‘Ohana Means Family, will hold a book signing from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Native Intelligence in Wailuku.
The poetic picture book for young children, illustrated by acclaimed illustrator Kenard Pak, and featuring an afterward by Maui taro farmer and cultural educator Hōkūao Pellegrino, celebrates the importance of poi in Hawai’i by following one family as they harvest kalo and prepare food for a celebration.
The book was published this month by Holiday House.
Loomis is a writer and journalist who is also the author of “Eclipse Chaser” and “Rough Riders.”
