Fallen Tree Knocks Out Power to 150 Customers in East Maui

About 150 customers from Keʻanae to the Nāhiku homestead area are being asked to plan for an extended outage overnight until Tuesday, Feb. 11, after a large tree fell and brought down six spans of power lines along a remote area of East Maui around 3:05 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.

Current wet and windy weather conditions are hampering crews to safely hike into the area and make the repairs to the damaged electrical equipment.

Once working conditions are deemed safe, crews can access the damaged equipment to begin restoration efforts.
