Keālia Pond to Host Free Keiki, Family Activities
Keālia Pond National Wildlife will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will offer the following special free activities:
9 a.m. to 10 a.m.: Guided Bird Walk at Refuge Ponds: Learn about native and migratory birds at Kealia Pond
10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: Keiki Discovery Walk: kids and families are welcome to enjoy a hands-on walk to discover the bugs, birds, and plants at Kealia Pond using your five senses.
11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Presentation: “Explore the Wilds of Keālia Pond and the National Wildlife Refuge System”
Keālia Pond NWR Refuge Manager, Bret Wolfe will talk about the uniqueness of Keālia Pond and its birds while providing engaging stories about the National Wildlife Refuge System.
The winners of the Friends of Keālia Pond NWR Photography Contest will be displayed in the Visitor Center.
The Saturday event will also have crafts for keiki, and visitors can explore the refuge’s interpretive displays at the Visitor Center, wildlife viewing walking paths and native pollinator garden.
