Maui Gets Fast Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Network July 21

At a news conference at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Verizon Wireless announced a suite of 10 forthcoming 4G LTE devices.

Residents in Kahului, Wailuku, Kihei, Wailea, Lahaina, Napili, and Kapalua with smartphones, laptop modems and hotspots will soon be able to take advantage of speeds up to 10 times faster when Verizon Wireless makes available its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network on July 21.  

“We are proud to help lead Maui into the 4G LTE wireless broadband world, helping residents, small businesses and local government connect faster and more fully with each other and those outside our community,” said Kevin Zavaglia, region president for Verizon Wireless, in a written statement from the company today.  “Our 4G LTE network is revolutionizing the way people communicate, and we know this connectivity will be a key communications and technology enabler for many years to come.”

Verizon Wireless began introducing the world’s first large-scale LTE network on December 5, 2010, and it reportedly covers more than 110 million Americans in 74 metropolitan areas and in on course to deliver 4G LTE to its entire 3G wireless footprint by the end of 2013.
