Maui Crime April 5 to April 11: Break-ins, Burglaries, Thefts

Maui police responded to 9 burglaries, 5 vehicle thefts and 8 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from April 5 to April 11, 2020.

Burglaries decreased 10 percent from the week before, when 10 incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts dropped 44 percent from the week before when 9 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins increased 300 percent from the previous week, when 8 incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

9 Burglaries

Haʻikū: 

  • Wednesday, April 8, 1:54 p.m.: 1700 Block of Kaupakalua Road, Haʻikū. Non-residential, forced entry.

Kaunakakai: 

  • Thursday, April 9, 9:59 a.m.: 1-00 Likelike Avenue, Kaunakakai. Burglary of dwelling in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Friday, April 10, 10:22 a.m.: 100 Block of Makena Place, Kaunakakai. Within a residence. Residential, forced entry.

Kīhei: 

  • Wednesday, April 8, 8:18 a.m.: 1-00 N Kīhei Road, Kīhei at Kīhei Kai. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Wednesday, April 8, 4:34 p.m.: 100 Block of E Līpoa Street, Kīhei. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Saturday, April 11, 2:16 p.m.: 2100 Block of Iliili Road, Kīhei at Punahoa Beach Apartments. Non-residential, forced entry.

Kula: 

  • Monday, April 6, 7:02 a.m.: 100 Block of Waipoli Street, Kula. Non-residential, forced entry.

Wailuku: 

  • Monday, April 6, 7:36 a.m.: 355 High St., Wailuku at Wailuku Elementary. Burglary of dwelling in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

5 Vehicle Thefts

Kīhei: 

  • Tuesday, April 7, 9:54 p.m.: 1847 S Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at The Snorkel Store. Hyundai, red.
  • Saturday, April 11, 3:10 p.m.: 395 Kenolio Rd., Kīhei. Suzuki, red/black.

Kula: 

  • Sunday, April 5, 11:53 a.m.: 4581 Lower Kula Rd., Kula at Morihara Store. Suzuki, yellow.
  • Wednesday, April 8, 10:39 a.m.: 38 Kauilaʻaha St., Kula, fronting residence. Nissan, silver.
  • Wednesday, April 8, 10:39 a.m.: 38 Kauilaʻaha St., Kula, fronting residence. Chevy, white.

8 Vehicle Break-ins

Haʻikū:

  • Saturday, April 11, 11:43 a.m.: 810 Haʻikū Rd., Haʻikū at Haʻikū Marketplace. Nissan, blue.
