The 46th Annual Makawao Paniolo Parade takes place this weekend.  Several roads will be closed beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2nd, to accommodate the parade route.

The event will result in closures of portions of Baldwin Ave. (at Kalauanui Rd.), Makawao Avenue (at Kokomo and Makani roads), and part of Olinda Road (at the Hanamu Rd. intersection).  The roads will reopen at approximately 11 a.m., or as soon after the parade as possible.

Public parking will be provided at Eddie Tam Memorial Center and at the Oskie Rice Arena.   Shuttle service between the Oskie Rice Arena and Makawao Town will be available before (between 7 and 8:45 a.m.) and after the parade (until 12 noon).

Event organizers request that the public not use the following roads after 8:30 a.m.:

  • Makawao Avenue from Kokomo Road to Makani Road;
  • Olinda Road from Hanamu Road to Makawao Town; and
  • Baldwin Avenue from Kaluanui Road to Makawao Town.

Residents below Makawao Avenue and on the Pukalani side of Baldwin Avenue may use Maha Road for egress toward Pukalani until the beginning of the parade reaches that area. Ukiu Raod will be opened immediately after the last parade entries pass the location.
