Live @ the MACC to Present Free Film Featuring Permanent Collection of Art and Craft, Jan. 16

Live at the MACC is premiering a film on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. for free, a departure from its scheduled live performances. The film “The Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Permanent Collection of Art and Craft,” explores how public works of art are integrated into the architecture of the MACC complex.

“The film explores how dedicated spaces within the MACC complex were carefully designed to integrate architecture with public works of art that offer a welcoming presence for our community,” according to organizers.

The collection includes traditional fine arts, traditional “building crafts,” contemporary crafts and cultural art forms.

The film’s featured artists and craftspeople include George Allan, Deybra Fair, Pat Hickman, Ben Kikuyama, Bill Little, Peter Sinenci, Lonny Tomono and Tony Walholm. Hōkūlani Holt, Kumu Hula, is also featured discussing the Pā, an outdoor space dedicated to Hawaiian cultural practices

The Live @ the MACC series is made possible by the support of the County of Maui and the Office of Economic Development. The series is designed to bring much needed opportunities for many of Hawai‘i’s performing artists and art forms in a combination of live/virtual or safe/live-in-person events that meet or exceed current CDC guidelines.
