Kīhei Brush Fire Scorches 2.5 Acres N. of Kanani Rd.

Kīhei Fire: Maui fire crews responded to a fire located makai of the Piʻilani Highway between Kanani Road and East Welakahao Road in South Maui. This video was taken at about 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

The brush fire was first reported at 1:19 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, in an undeveloped lot between Keala Place and Auhana Road. It burned 2.5 acres of brush before being brought under control at around 4:30 p.m. Crews extinguished the blaze at 6 p.m.

Crews responding to the scene included: Engine 6, Engine 14, Ladder 14, Tanker 14, Engine 10, Tanker 10, Hazmat 10 and a Battalion Chief.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire was undetermined and no damages were reported.
