New Maui Orthopedic Surgery Clinic Opens Monday in Wailuku

Dr. Zachary Thielen, who has been practicing orthopedic surgery on Maui for the past three years, is opening his own family-run Maui Orthopedic Institute in Wailuku. The new clinic begins taking patients Monday, Oct. 11.
Dr. Thielen spent the past three years specializing in total hip and knee replacement surgery. The new clinic offers arthritis care, and diagnosis and treatment of acute injuries, including fractures, sprains and tendon tears.
The clinic is located at 1830 Wells St., Suite 103 in Wailuku. For information, call 808-649-1487, go to www.mauiorthopedic.com or email info@mauiorthopedic.com.
Dr. Zachary and his wife Annie, the clinic’s business manager, moved to Maui three years ago but have island roots. Annie is a Lahainaluna alumna and her immediate family also lives on Maui. Dr. Thielen’s grandparents have been a part of the Windward O’ahu community for decades and his parents live on Kaua’i, where he graduated from Waimea High School.
Dr. Thielen graduated from the University of Hawai’i Medical School. He completed his surgical training at the University of California at San Francisco for residency, with a one-year fellowship focused on hip and knee replacement surgery at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, CA.
The Thielen family returned to Hawai’i to raise their young family.
“Dr. Thielen wants to create a practice where our community can feel like they get world-class medical care right here at home, without having to get on a plane,” according to a company press release.
