Kahului House Fire Causes $123,000 in Damage, Four People Displaced

E. Papa fire (10.16.21) PC: Maui Fire Department

Four people were displaced following a house fire on East Papa Avenue in Kahului on Saturday.

The fire caused an estimated $123,000 in damage to the structure. The value of the contents is to be determined.

The fire was first reported at 11:58 a.m., and was brought under control shortly before 12:30 p.m. The fire was declared extinguished by 2 p.m.

Crews responding to the scene included: Engine 10, Hazmat 10, Rescue 10, and Tanker 10 out of Kahului, Engine 6 from Kīhei, a battalion chief, and a fire investigator.

Fire officials say no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
