Fire off Pūlehu Road Burns 2 Acres of Brush

Pūlehu fire. PC: Maui Fire Department

A brush fire burned an estimated two acres off of Pūlehu Road in Central Maui on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to reports of a car fire, which also spread to nearby brush at around 12:38 p.m. on Nov. 17.

Crews had the fire 100% contained within an hour, and remained on scene into the evening to conduct mop-up operations.

Responding units included: Engine 10, Tanker 10, Engine 13, Tanker 14, and Hazmat 10. The Maui firefighters were assisted by Mahi Pono and Alpha Construction which brought heavy equipment to the scene.

The cause of the fire is listed as undetermined.
