Ordnance Found in Wailea, Believed to be Washed Down From Recent Heavy Rains

Maui police were called to a Wailea residence on Thursday for a report of an unexploded piece of ordnance found in a gulch behind the home. The incident was reported at around 4:40 p.m.
Police say it is believed the recent heavy rains in the area washed the device down to its location, as it was not there previously.
The Maui Police Department’s bomb squad observed the grenade to be inert, as it had no spoon and pin. The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was contacted and made aware of the finding.
Maui police removed the grenade from the location for safekeeping. It will be rendered safe by the Army EOD at a later date.
