Weekend Preview: Big Battles in MIL Volleyball

With MIL football taking the weekend off for the Maui Fair, the local sports focus will be squarely on volleyball.
Tonight, Molokai and host Seabury Hall will match 4-0 marks in a battle of Division-II powers.
Tomorrow, seventh-ranked Kamehameha-Maui will put its 7-0 Division-I record on the line against visiting Baldwin. The Warriors tuned up for that key match last night, sweeping past King Kekaulike 25-15, 25-17, 25-13.
Kamehameha handed the 6-1 Bears their only league loss a couple of weeks back, defeating them in three close sets.
On the college front, the 11th-ranked Rainbow Wahine made quick work of Nevada last night, needing just 75 minutes to complete a 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 rout at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The victory improved Hawaii’s records to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the WAC. UH next hosts Fresno State on Saturday.
The struggling Rainbow Wahine soccer team takes a 1-8 record into its WAC opener tonight, facing title-favored Utah State in a televised match at the Waipio Soccer Stadium. UH also meets Nevada on Sunday.
Also opening its WAC campaign is the 2-2 UH football team, which will play on the road against Louisiana Tech. That game is set for1 p.m., Hawaii time, and will be aired on KNUI AM-900.
