Maui Fair Attendance Up 3% in 2011

[flashvideo file=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWnVedN85-o /] Attendance at the 89th Maui Fair was up 3% from last year with more than 92,700 people passing through the gates over four days, according to Fair Managing Director Sherri Grimes.

The figures are up from last year, but down slightly from previous years when better economic conditions prevailed.

A popular addition to the Maui Fair this year was the sale of $25 wristbands, which were good for 10 rides through the close of business on Saturday.  The extended wristband hours allowed fair-goers a greater time frame to use the tickets they purchased.

Positive feedback was also reported from fair-goers who utilized the free shuttle service from outlying areas including Wells Park and the County Building.

The Maui Fair serves as the primary source of funding for many of Maui’s non-profit and community organizations, many of which reported positive sales this year at vending and food booths.
