Hawaii State 50/70 Champions Central Maui ‘Beat the Heat’ with 13-3 win over Arizona

The Central Maui Hawaiʻi State Champions jumped to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never looked back en route to a 13-3 victory over Tucson, Arizona.

The Maui boys had 17 hits overall, including two hits each for Koltyn Antolin, Kano Mamuad and Jaxson Delos Santos. Delos Santos and Noah Mathias each had 3 runs batted in for Central Maui.

Kaden Grancha, Antolin and Ryder Urig handled the pitching duties for Maui.

“There was no quit in that Arizona team,” said Manager Stephen Leis. “Our scouting report indicated their love for the game of baseball. They made some excellent defensive plays to hang around today. We are glad for the win and now move on to the single elimination play-off to determine the West Region Champion and berth to the World Series.

In the first four games, Maui has relinquished just 5 runs to their opposing teams. In the tournament so far, the Maui boys have a 3:1 record including: a 5-1 win over Southern California; a 1-0 loss to Norther California; a 21-0 win over Oregon; and a 13-3 win over Arizona.

The regional tournament concludes on July 25, 2024.
