Slack-key lineup announced for Saturday’s Kēōkea Ho‘olaule‘a
Slack-key guitar master George Kuo is expected to headline daylong entertainment at the Kēōkea Ho‘olaule‘a on Saturday, July 27. The two-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano-awardee will perform at 1 p.m. at the Kēōkea Marketplace at the corner of Kula Highway and Kaʻamana Street just past Grandma’s Coffee House.
The annual event unfolds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with crafts and food vendors. Admission is $10 for those 18 or older, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit Kēōkea Homestead Farm Lots Association. Keiki admittance is free.
The event also features slack-key artists Namaka Cosma and Sean Park at 10:15 a.m.; Homegrown Trio, Kūikawā at noon, and Kahi Lum-Young of Hūʻewa, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Activities include opening ceremonies at 10 a.m., County Council salute at 11:15 a.m., a fire-prevention program 11:40 a.m., educational booths showcasing stream-life expert Skippy Hau, limu (seaweed) maven Napua Barrows, kapa and feather work by Pi’ilani Akana; poi pounding and ti-leaf lei making.
