Nonprofit Directors’ Leadership Awards nominees accepted; winners honored at annual meeting

The Maui County Nonprofit Directors Association is soliciting nominations for Community Business, Humanitarian and Outstanding Nonprofit Executive Director Awards with winners announced at the group’s annual meeting on Oct. 10 at the Maui Beach Hotel.

At the meeting, there will be an opportunity for candidates for office to give a 2 minute presentation on their election platform and support for nonprofit organizations.

The Community Business Award is presented to a business that supports nonprofit organizations in Maui County. Selection criteria include financial and in-kind support of philanthropic projects, impact of gifts, and encouragement and motivation of employees to take leadership roles in nonprofits and to participate in community activities.

The Humanitarian Award recognizes a Maui County resident who gives freely of time, talent and money to philanthropic activities. Stewardship, recruiting and motivating others are considered in the selection process.

Nominees for the Community Business and Humanitarian Awards need to be affiliated with members of the Maui Nonprofit Directors Association.

Maui County Outstanding Nonprofit Executive Director nominees will be judged on their leadership, vision and improvement of programs and services. Nominees must be members of the Maui Nonprofit Directors Association.

Online applications for the Leadership Awards are available at https://www.mauinonprofit.org/mnpd-2024-leadership-awards/. Completed applications may be printed and mailed to Maui County Nonprofit Directors Association, PO Box 1186, Puunene 96784 or emailed to mauinonprofit@gmail.com. Including two letters of recommendation with nominations are strongly encouraged.

The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m., Aug. 24.

All nominees and winners will be honored at the 2024 Maui Nonprofit Directors Annual Meeting on 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Maui Beach Hotel Moana Ballroom in Kahului. Individual tickets are $50; sponsorships for tables of 10 are $1,000.

To sign up, go to mauinonprofit.org and click on “Events & Training” in the upper right of the main page and the “2024 Annual Meeting & Leadership Awards” tab.

The deadline to purchase a ticket is Oct. 2. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Donations, both financial and in-kind, are being accepted to support the event.

Maui Nonprofit Directors Association consists of more than 50 nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life on Maui. These nonprofits work collaboratively across various sectors, including social services, health care, education, animals, environment, and the arts, to address the diverse needs of the community.
