AARP hosts first-ever ‘Aging in Place Workshops’ on Maui, Aug. 24
A new AARP workshop is giving tips on resources and services to help Maui residents stay rooted on Maui in the long run.
“We know that most people on Maui want to stay in their own home and community as they grow older,” said Kealiʻi Lopez, AARP Hawaiʻi state director. “We want to make it easy for people to learn about resources in Maui County and to hear from experts on home modifications, legal issues like advance care planning and estate planning, fall prevention, medication management and even decluttering and downsizing.”
The free informational, “Aging in Place Workshops,” hosted by AARP Hawaiʻi, takes place at the Kaunoa Senior Center, 401 Alakapa Place, in Pāʻia on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The conference includes a resource fair of local service providers and six workshops (participants can choose up to three). It’s free and you don’t have to be an AARP member nor of AARP age to attend.
