Da Kava Spot to celebrate Grand Opening in Wailuku on Friday
A new gathering place centered around traditional Polynesian kava will open in Wailuku on Friday, June 6.
The grand opening of Da Kava Spot runs from 5 p.m. to midnight. The event will include an opening prayer and ribbon cutting, followed by live music by local artists including Tunez Moananu of Rebel Souljahz, the group HI Standard with Michael Maglinti and Phil Crown, and Sione Liti.
Da Kava Spot is located at the DSP Lot, 67 Waiʻale Road, across from Hashi’s Car Wash.
The venue offers four Polynesian blends of kava — also known as ʻawa, ʻava, or yaqona — from Hawaiʻi, Samoa, Fiji and Tonga. Designed with island aesthetics, the space features outdoor seating, ambient lighting and a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
“We created Da Kava Spot as a place where people can unwind, connect and rediscover the spirit of ʻohana,” said co-founder and Maui native Dukie Sparks.
In addition to serving kava, Da Kava Spot will host weekly events including open mic nights, live music with a focus on local Maui artists, pop up events and much more.
“Whether you’re new to kava or a longtime supporter of its healing traditions, our doors are open to anyone seeking peace, connection and relaxation,” added co-founder Tunez Moananu.
Food will be available from Sparky’s Food Company and desserts from Sweet Shack Maui. All ages are welcome.
