Electrical service was restored to customers in Mahinahina and Kahana by 7:57 p.m.

The outage was first reported at around 5 p.m.

Officials at MECO apologized for any inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.

Maui Electric Company reported a power outage in West Maui on Tuesday evening, January 3, 2011.

Affected areas included Mahinahina and Kahana, bounded by Akahele St, various Well facilites, West Maui Airport, Lower Honoapiilani Highway, Falls of Kahana, Hoohui Road, Kahana Ridge, Honoapiilani Highway, Haukoe Point Subdivision, Hui “E” Road, and lateral streets.

MECO is working to identify the cause and restore electrical service as quickly and safely as possible.
