North Shore Surf for Maui Remains Elevated at 12-20 Feet

The High Surf Warning for Maui and Molokai has been downgraded, but waves will remain elevated at High Surf Advisory levels.

The National Weather Service issued the High Surf Advisory for the North and West facing shores until 6 a.m. on Friday.

Surf is expected to be in the 12 to 20 foot range along the north facing shores, and 8 to 12 feet along the west side, dropping below advisory levels by daybreak on Friday.

Forecasters from the NWS say a high tide of approximately 1.3 feet is expected between 11:10 a.m. and 12:28 p.m. today; with the next high tide of approximately 2.6 feet expected between 1:44 and 3:02 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Beach goers are urged to stay out of the water and well away from the shore break during the advisory period.

Advisory level surf can result in hazardous wave action, strong rip currents, and localized beach erosion.
