Melissa Dyckman Interiors launches Lahaina Rebuild Design Guidance service

Melissa Dyckman Interiors has launched Lahaina Rebuild Design Guidance, a one-on-one advisory service created to support Lahaina homeowners rebuilding after the 2023 wildfires. The service helps clients make smarter decisions during planning and construction, before costly changes, delays and long-term design regrets happen.
Created as an alternative to full-service interior design, the offering provides focused professional support during key phases of rebuilding, beginning with architectural plan review and continuing through layout refinement, cabinetry, lighting, bathrooms, materials and finish selections. The goal is to reduce overwhelm and help homeowners move forward with confidence.

The service begins with an Initial Rebuild Design Review, starting at $300, which includes advance review of architectural plans, a one-on-one consultation with Melissa and a written follow-up summary with recommendations and next steps. Additional Design Guidance Sessions are available at an additional cost and focus on specific areas such as kitchen planning, bathroom layouts, lighting and electrical, interior finishes and paint selections.
A typical client benefits from four to six sessions depending on the size of the home, the completeness of the plans and the level of decision support needed.
“Rebuilding a home is emotional and the number of decisions people are asked to make can feel overwhelming,” said Melissa Dyckman, founder and interior designer of Melissa Dyckman Interiors. “I created Lahaina Rebuild Design Guidance to help people slow that process down, understand what matters most and move forward with more clarity and confidence. Small adjustments at the planning stage can completely change how a home functions and help avoid much larger costs later.”
The advisory service is intended for Lahaina residents rebuilding after the fire who are in the planning, architectural review, design development or finish selection phases. It complements the work of architects, contractors and builders by helping bridge communication and support better project outcomes.
Clients receive session recap notes, decision checklists by phase, guidance on what should be selected first and recommended questions to bring back to their architect or builder. Common issues the service helps prevent include poorly functioning kitchen layouts, missed lighting placement before rough-in, delayed finish selections and material choices that do not perform well in Maui’s climate.
“Rebuilding in Lahaina comes with so many emotions and decisions, and I really wish I had worked with Melissa from the very beginning,” said Katie Tursi, a Lahaina homeowner rebuilding after the wildfires. “Having someone who understands the process and can see things I wouldn’t as a non-designer would have made such a difference. In the end, it would have actually saved us money by catching details early and helping us avoid costly changes later on.”
