Huliau Food & Film Festival set for Aug. 29

The Maui Huliau Foundation will host its annual Huliau Food & Film Festival on Aug. 29, bringing the event to Kapuakukui Farm in Kula for an evening of farm-to-table food, hula, live music and student-produced films.
The evening will feature nine chef stations, showcasing pūpū and desserts made with locally sourced ingredients and prepared by chefs from some of Maui’s leading restaurants and catering companies. Guests will also have the opportunity to learn more about the farms and chefs behind the food through a student-produced film.
Other student films featured throughout the evening will include a film created through Maui Huliau’s summer program exploring the Kula moku and a short documentary about coral resilience and reef restoration in Hawaiʻi.

“We’re excited to bring this year’s benefit dinner to a beautiful new location overlooking the Kula moku and to celebrate the abundance of this place through the food, stories, and films we’ll share,” said Malia Cahill, executive director of Maui Huliau Foundation. “That connection to place is at the heart of our youth programs, and this event is a fun way for our community to experience that connection while supporting the continued growth of our programs in the coming year.”
This year, guests can choose between two ticket options. Reserved tables are $925 for up to eight guests and include table service from the chef stations throughout the evening. Mix & Mingle tickets are $75 per person and include access to all nine chef stations, with shared highboy tables and lounge-style seating throughout the event for a more casual way to enjoy the evening and connect with others.
Proceeds from the Huliau Food & Film Festival support Maui Huliau Foundation’s youth programs in environmental filmmaking, climate literacy, leadership and ʻāina-based education.
Maui Huliau Foundation’s main sponsors this year are CDF Engineering, Hawaiian Paddle Sports, and Blue Ginger Hawaiʻi.
