Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s Stronger Hawaiʻi Fund stands ready ahead of peak hurricane season

As Hawaiʻi enters the peak months of hurricane season, the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation is ramping up support for its Stronger Hawaiʻi Fund to help communities prepare for and respond to disasters.

Designed for flexibility, the fund enables HCF and its partners to mobilize resources quickly when and where they are needed most, while also supporting sustained community resilience and recovery.

“Recent years have shown us that disasters can affect any community and take many forms, from wildfires and flooding to hurricanes and other severe weather events,” said Terry George, HCF CEO & President. “The Stronger Hawaiʻi Fund positions us to act before, during and after a disaster by ensuring communities have access to critical resources, coordinated support and pathways for recovery. As we move through hurricane season, preparedness and community resilience are more important than ever.”

Federal forecasters from the National Weather Service are predicting a busier-than-usual 2026 Central Pacific hurricane season. As storms continue to develop across the Pacific, HCF encourages individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit organizations to review emergency plans, strengthen communications and prepare essential supplies before a storm threatens the islands.

The Stronger Hawaiʻi Fund complements these preparedness efforts by providing a flexible philanthropic resource to accelerate response and catalyze support and investment in community resilience over time.
