Temporary Front Street road closure, Saturday, Sept. 12 for Lights for Lahaina, Light March

A portion of Front Street in Lahaina will be temporarily closed on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, to accommodate the Lights for Lahaina Light March.

The temporary road closure will be in effect from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. along Front Street between Kenui Street and Dickenson Street to provide a safe route for those participating in the community event.

The Maui Police Department will assist with traffic control during the closure. Barricades will be set up along Front Street at Baker Street, Papalaua Street and Lahainaluna Road. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes, allow additional travel time and exercise caution in the area.

The Light March is part of the 2nd Annual Lights for Lahaina, a two-day community gathering taking place Sept. 11 and 12. On Saturday evening, community members will gather at the Lahaina Jodo Mission, where a blessing and pule will begin at approximately 6:15 p.m. before participants walk together through Lahaina carrying lights as symbols of aloha and hope. The procession will include mele and moments of reflection and will pause along Front Street for a special pū ceremony before continuing to Maria Lanakila Catholic Church.

Lights for Lahaina begins Friday, Sept. 11, at Maria Lanakila Catholic Church with Our Lahaina Story, featuring live entertainment, cultural activities, community resource booths, local food vendors, keiki and ʻohana activities, and the Our Lahaina Story Time Capsule. The two-day event is free and open to the public.

Free event parking and shuttle transportation will be available both days. Refer to event parking map attached.
