Tony and Grammy winner opens Broadway on Maui concert series at the Historic ʻĪao Theater, Oct. 24

Tony and Grammy Award winner Lauren Patten will headline “A Night at the Masquerade,” the opening concert of the new Broadway on Maui concert series, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Historic ʻĪao Theater.
Wave of Harmony Foundation presents the evening in partnership with Maui OnStage, and the concert is a benefit for the foundation’s Harmony Tickets program.
Patten won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Jagged Little Pill, along with Grammy and Drama Desk Awards. She most recently starred on Broadway in the revival of Becky Shaw at Second Stage. Her credits include Fun Home on Broadway and, on television, Hulu’s Death and Other Details, Blue Bloods, The Good Fight and Succession. She currently appears in the Amazon series Off Campus.
On the ʻĪao stage, Patten will perform with Maui singers Puakenikeni Mochizuki-Kepler, Casey Hughes, Aida Rose, Zoe Ronen, P.T. Mahoney, Kiegan Otterson, Dale Button and John Rowehl.
Music director Vania Jerome leads the band on keyboard, with Prem Brosio on guitar, Troy Otto on bass and Nolan Wren on drums.
Broadway on Maui is a concert series that brings Broadway artists to stages across the island to perform alongside the singers and musicians who live here. The series grows out of Wave of Harmony Foundation’s first fundraiser, “Broadway on Maui: A Night Under the Stars,” which featured Ted Neeley, Yvonne Elliman, Teri Bibb and Jim Price.
“When I started Wave of Harmony Foundation, one of my goals was to bring Broadway performers to Maui for our community to enjoy,” said Barry Kawakami, founder and president of Wave of Harmony Foundation. “I hope this is the first of many Broadway on Maui concerts.” Claire and Reid Bowman are the evening’s presenting sponsors.
Tickets are $25 to $55, with $10 off for students and kūpuna, at waveofharmony.org. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit Harmony Tickets, a Wave of Harmony Foundation program that buys and sponsors tickets so students, kūpuna and neighbors can attend live performances. Donations to Harmony Tickets can be made at waveofharmony.org.
The same weekend, Patten will teach two master classes, “Acting a Monologue or Song,” at the Maui OnStage Education and Youth Studio in Queen Kaʻahumanu Center, Kahului. The youth class (ages 11 to 17) is at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, and the adult class (18 and up) is at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.
Registration and financial aid information are at waveofharmony.org.
