Dance Shows Featured This Month At MACC

The MACC seems to be on a dance kick during the month of February with four unique dance performances scheduled, one for each week of the month.

The month of dance began on Tuesday, February 7 with a show by Martha Graham Dance Company, the oldest dance company in the US.

Graham’s show focused on the art of contemporary dance, pulling in social, political, psychological and sexual themes with narration, telling the story of the historic company’s dance through time with stunning choreography.

Detail’s of February’s three remaining dance shows at the MACC are included below.

Keali’i Reichel & Halau Ke’alaokamaile in Kukahi 2012 Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets sold separately for each event are $12, $35, $45, and $55.

One of Hawaii’s top recording artists from Pa’ia, Keali’i Reichel, will grace the Maui stage with his renowned kumu hula of Halau Ke’alaokamaile.

His music, chant, and hula show is full of Hawaiian tradition, exhibiting the true art of hula.

Each talented wahine in Reichel’s halau contributes to his music with her own strong voice and hula dance rhythm.

Rasta Thomas’ Dance Stars with The Bad Boys of Dance Tuesday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12, $30 and $40. 

Internationally recognized ballet dancer Rasta Thomas and his dance company The Bad Boys of Dance will perform a show filled with an exciting variety of dance styles.

Thomas’ multi-faceted dancers are some of the most talented in the world, coming right to the Maui stage for a unique and entertaining performance.

Trey McIntyre Dance Project Thursday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12, $30, and $40.

Acclaimed ballet choreographer Trey McIntyre has worked with major dance companies American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet, creating some of the most stunning dance shows in the world.

McIntyre’s own shows are one of a kind compositions of inspiring ballet, modern dance, and music.
