All three Maui Interscholastic League teams came up short Thursday at the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Boys Soccer Championships at Waipi’o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

MIL Division I champion Baldwin was the first of three seeded teams to lose in the quarterfinals, falling to Oahu Interscholastic Association runner-up Kapolei, 4-0. The Bears trailed 1-0 at the half before Kapolei blew the game open with three goals in a span of 13 minutes, including two by senior forward Michael Wolf.

Kapolei will meet Kalani in today’s first semifinal at 5 p.m. Unseeded Kalani upset defending tournament champion Punahou, 3-2, with the winning goal coming in the 80th minute of the match by Leo Klink.

Top-seeded Mililani rolled over Pearl City, 3-0, to advance into the tonight’s 7 o’clock semifinals against Iolani, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu runner-up, a 1-0 winner over fourth-seeded Kealakehe.

Meanwhile, Aiea eliminated Lahainaluna, 3-2, in a consolation match. Jonathan De La Paz and Jorge Hernandez scored for the Lunas.
