Everyone’s favorite “drinking holiday,” St. Patrick’s Day, is coming up this weekend on Saturday, March 17 with several events planned across the island that will celebrate luck, beer, Irish culture, and the color green.
Today the Irish holiday is a far cry from its original intention, which was to commemorate Saint Patrick – one of Ireland’s patron saints who brought Christianity to the nation.
Like Ireland, it’s easy for Maui to enjoy this now secular holiday of drinking all day long (for some revelers) at least one day a year, as we too live on a green island rife with quirky accents and some heavy drinkers.
If rainbows indeed do have pots of gold at the end of them, then Maui is the place to be with the luck and good cheer of the Irish on this internationally celebrated holiday.
