Akaka Recognized by Hawaii Senate as Truman Award Recipient

The Hawaii Senate today recognized US Senator Daniel K. Akaka today for his accomplishments in being selected as a recipient of the Harry S. Truman Award.
The Truman award is the highest recognition given to a lawmaker by the National Guard Association of the United States.
In acknowledging the honor, the Hawaii Senate presented Sen. Akaka with a Certificate of Recognition.
Senator Donna Mercado Kim, who presented Sen. Akaka with the certificate said, “As a current member of the Armed Forces Committee and Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support, Senator Akaka has continued to serve as a champion of our men and women in uniform, veterans, and their families, and to work to ensure the Active, Guard, and Reserve forces have the equipment and training necessary to achieve their missions.”
