YES Live in Concert Sunday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the MACC. Tickets are $45, $65, $75 and $85.

Famed English rockers YES perform a Maui show on Friday night as part of their latest Fly From Here tour.

YES came on the scene as one of the best progressive rock bands in the 70s and has since gained a global fan base.

The tour marks the band’s nostalgic return to their popular 80’s hits including “And You and I,” and “I’ve Seen All Good People.”

Current band members include Jon Davidson (a recent addition), Chris Squire, Steve Howe, and Alan White.

Hawaii’s own Makana will open the show.

King Paris & Show Friday, April 27 at 9 p.m. at Stella Blues Cafe. Tickets are $12.

The ever-eccentric performer King Paris re-appears with The Hip-Notics for a show featuring legendary musician Mick Fleetwood (aka “Chandu” The Genie Giant) on percussion and sultry belly dancers.

King Paris takes the audience on a “magic carpet ride” where “thrilling and exotic musical mysteries of the universe unfold.”

Ukulele sensation Derick Sebastian opens the show.

The Brothers Cazimero Lei Day Concert Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the MACC. Tickets are $12, $28, and $30.

The Brothers Cazimero are one of the most talented duos in contemporary Hawaiian music and hula.

Their show this weekend is part of the brothers’ annual tradition of playing their “May Day-Lei Day” for Maui fans.

Reggae Shows

Marty Dread & Friends Friday, April 27 at 9 p.m. at Charley’s Restaurant & Saloon. Entrance is $15.

One of Maui’s reggae ambassadors, Marty Dread, plays Charley’s for Paia Fourth Friday alongside Indubious from Oregon.

Indubious describes themselves as “intergalactic reggae funk revolutionaries.” The band blends classic reggae constructs with unique rhythm changes and some electronic effects.

Reggae Dance Party Saturday, April 28 at Maui Yoga Shala at 7 p.m. $10-$15 suggested donation.

Reggae artists Shoshana B and The 2Elov8 Band play a neighborhood reggae show with special guest Beloved.

Proceeds from the show and dance party go to the evolution of Shoshana B’s music.

Sol Seed w/ Rootz N Creation Saturday, April 28 at 10 p.m. at Casanova’s. The cover charge is $10. 

Reggae bands Sol Seed and Rootz N Creation share their authentic roots reggae sound with Maui fans on Saturday night.

For the complete Casanova experience, come in at 8 p.m. for some wine and tasty pizza, digest, and then dance it off all night to upbeat reggae.

Albee Layer Autograph Signing and ERGO Launch Party Friday, April 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Shapers in Queen Ka’aumanu Center. 

Local surfer Albee Layer celebrates his recent 100k Innersection win by signing autographs and hosting a small launch party with one of his main sponsors, ERGO, and friends.

BBQ & Surf with Albee Layer Saturday, April 28 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Ho’okipa Beach Park.

All are invited to join Layer as his Innersection celebration continues with a community beach party bbq and surf session at Ho’okipa.

Free food and giveaways from Layer’s sponsors will be provided at the event.

DJ Kamikaze’s Ladies Night Saturday, April 28 at 9:30 p.m. at Charley’s Restaurant & Saloon. Entrance is $10 for guys, and free for girls.

DJ Kamikaze spins for Maui girls who want to go out and dance for free on Saturday night.

Don’t worry guys, you can still come in and you only have to pay a small fee t0 gaze at the wonder of happy, drinking, dancing females.

Benefits

Spring Mardi Gras Dinner & Auction Friday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. at King Kamehameha Golf Course. Tickets are $75.

Maui Family Support Services, Inc. hosts a benefit featuring live entertainment, a buffet dinner, and a silent auction.

The evening kicks off with music from DJ Del Sol, followed by Slam with David Coy and Kelly Covington.

All proceeds go to Maui Family Support Services, whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect in Maui County.

Women Helping Women Fundraiser Tea Sunday, April 29 from 1-5 p.m. at the MACC. Tickets are $90 for a standing table, $110 for premier, and $150 for VIP. 

Local non-profit Women Helping Women presents their 15th Annual afternoon tea, themed “A Chinese Odyssey – Year of the Dragon.”

The event features an elegant afternoon teatime and other delights including live performances from Maui Chinese Martial Arts Academy and Oahu’s Phoenix Dance Chamber.

Paia Fourth Friday April Town Party Friday, April 27 from 6-9 p.m. in Paia Town on lower Baldwin Ave.

This month’s Paia Fourth Friday Town Party celebrates Earth Day a week late, but makes up for it with plenty of entertainment and activities centered around the theme of celebrating nature.

Indigo Paia will host one of their famous Fourth Friday parking-lot soirees where they feature music from Helmet Conspiracy and one of Oahu’s top DJs, Mr. Nick.

Other musical entertainment around the town includes Kamehameha School’s halau at Paia Bay Cafe and the 9-piece Worrell Family Band in front of Letarte.

The Hemp House adds something new to Fourth Friday this month – free samples of homemade hemp brownies.

UH Maui Chorus Concert Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at Iao Congregational Church.

UH Maui College Chorus gives their spring concert, “Earth Songs,” featuring multilingual choral selections that surround the theme of Mother Earth.

Free refreshments will be provided at the concert as a gift from the UH Maui Chorus to their audience.

Olinda Chorale in Concert Sunday, April 29 at 4 p.m. at Makawao Union Church.

Musical Voices Maui presents an afternoon concert from upcountry’s Olinda Chorale.

The chorale will perform works by Claudio Monteverdi, Johannes Brahms, Eric Whitacre, Joseph Jennings, and The Beatles.

Da Kidney Da Kine Day Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.

Get free kidney health, vision and hearing screenings on Saturday while enjoying live music from Jimmy Mac and the Kool Kats, Na Keiki O Halau Hula Kauluokala, and Nuff Sedd.
