Shawn Sweeney, the president and chief executive officer of Landmark Hotels Group, announced the promotion of Carmine Iommazzo to general manager at The Makena Beach & Golf Resort.

The hotel, part of the 1800 acre Makena Resort that Mr. Sweeney continues to oversee, has recently undergone a multi-million dollar makeover with all its 322 rooms and suites refurbished.

Iommazzo was promoted from his position as resident manager at the resort, a position he held since 2011. Prior to that, Iommazzo had been with Landmark Hotels Group since July 2006 at during which time he served as the director of food and beverage at the Kahala Hotel and Resort.

Originally born and raised in Australia, Iommazzo brings a varied background in family-owned restaurants, bed & breakfast style hotels in Italy, and larger hotels and resorts, such as the Hyatt Hotels in Adelaide and Melbourne, The Regent Hotel Sydney, Kahana Beach Resort, Kapalua Bay Hotel, and the Sheraton Hotel and Marina.

Iommazzo holds a diploma from the International College of Hotel Management in Adelaide, a joint project of the Swiss Hotel Association (SHA), Le Cordon Bleu, and the Government of South Australia.
