Suspicous Fires in Halawa Valley Under Investigation
By Wendy Osher
Firefighters responded to multiple blazes in Halawa Valley on Molokai overnight.
Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said units arrived to find five separate fires totaling two acres burning.
Crews were called to the scene at 7:15 p.m., and had the fires extinguished by around 11:30 last night (Wednesday, June 6, 2012).
Authorities say, because of the multiple points of ignition, the fire cause looks to be intentional.
Fire inspectors are conducting an investigation.
There were no reported injuries.
