Applicants Sought for Ethics Commission

Applications are being accepted for the Hawai’i State Ethics Commission, to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Jacqueline Kido whose term expires on June 30, 2015.

The position is open to all residents in the state, with travel expenses to be reimbursed for neighbor islanders who travel to O’ahu to attend meetings.

Applicants must be U. S. citizens, residents of the State of Hawai`i and may not hold any other public office.

Members of the Ethics Commission are tasked with addressing ethics issues involving legislators, registered lobbyists, and state employees.  Commissioners are responsible for investigating complaints, providing advisory opinions, and enforcing decisions issued.

Interested persons should submit an application to the Judicial Council, a resume, and three letters of recommendation postmarked by Wednesday, August 22.

Materials should be sent to: Judicial Council, Hawai`i Supreme Court, 417 S. King Street, Second Floor, Honolulu, Hawai`i 96813-2902.

Applications are available on the Judiciary website or can be obtained from the Communications and Community Relations Office, Room 212, Ali`iolani Hale, 417 South King Street, Honolulu, Hawai`i 96813 or by calling the Judicial Council at (808) 539-4702.
